PANTHEON Symphonic Scenes For Brass Band & Percussion “P A N T H E O N” was commissioned by the Stangaland Brass from Karmøy, Norway, for the Norwegian National Brass Band Championships (3rd section), held in the Grieg Hall, Bergen, on February 6th 2015. “The music is inspired by one of the oldest and still standing buildings in the world – the Pantheon in Rome. Pantheon, meaning “the temple of all Gods” was build 118-128 AD and is one of the best preserved structures from the Roman empire. When I visited Rome for the first time as a young boy I was overwhelmed and truly amazed by the greatness and atmosphere of this fantastic and historic building. I caught a deep interest of Roman history in which Pantheon plays a central role. The music has no religious meaning but I try to depict historic events taking place in and around the Pantheon. The creation, the two fires, Pantheon as a church. A place for love and a place for heroes.”
